2020-10-31 - Wednesday Gets Married
Father Liam O’Keeffe woke early on the morning of Vincent and Fiona’s wedding. He had a quick breakfast to tide him over and when it was time, he headed for the Alexandra Storehouse, where Fernanda Negron and her sister would be applying everyone’s make-up. He had done his part by dying his red hair black, as well as his eyebrows with a dye that would wash out with his next shower. Above his clerical collar he looked frighteningly like Damien Karras of The Exorcist fame. But his face had to be darkened and cracked and he had already put in opaque whitish contact lenses to look as the doomed priest had at the moment of his possession. He climbed the steps to the room the sisters would be using and entered.
Vincent Reinhardt woke on the morning of his wedding on the blessedly comfortable couch of Owen Reinhardt, his best friend. Helping the family get ready for the wedding took his mind off of his excitement a bit. He wasn’t in the least bit nervous, as this was something he’d wanted and looked forward to since he was 14 years old. When the time came, he dressed in a beautiful and ironically enough, virginal white suit. The only part that was not pure white was his necktie, which was a shimmering silver color. He looked every bit the angel, or so Slaine and little Liam told him. They walked together to the Storehouse, patiently waiting for the bride to arrive and the ceremony to begin.
Owen was dressed in the hilarious track and field maroon shirt and billowy yellow shorts of Paulie Bleeker from Juno. He even had a light brown wig and a yellow terry sweatband and the dorky pulled up sports socks with his sneakers. He was a perfectly dorky Paulie to go with Slaine’s Juno, the perfect prego Halloween costume. He held Liam’s hand, his web shooting hand as he was a little Spiderman and very excited. “You look positively angelic Vincent.” He teased “Too pure for my evil sister.” He held the door for everyone to walk in and then he followed.
Liam was very excited about today for so many reasons. Auntie Fi and Uncle Vincent were getting married and it was Halloween…..AND all the grown ups were going to wear costumes too! He ran into the storehouse and started immediately pretending to shoot webs at all the railings and rafters.
John had on his striped Gomez Addams suit and had even used some black hair spray to darken and comb back what hair he had left. He used some black mascara on his moustache and eyebrows and was ready to play the part. He as already in the storehouse when Liam started shooting webs at him and chased him around a bit to amuse him as he passed Vincent, Owen and Slaine “He’s swinging too fast on those webs…..Hello Angel Vincent….Slaine, working the big basketball….Jesus Christ Owen you’re an eyesore…” He laughed.
Fiona was in a sort of anteroom so she wouldn’t bump into Vincent right away but she was dressed and ready as Wednesday Addams. It was how they met and her heart swelled to marry Vincent like this on Halloween. Addy was in there with her keeping her company and so was her mother. “Addy reconnaissance….go see if Vincent’s here yet?” She begged but was willing to keep herself parked. “I could have sworn I just heard my Dad say Spiderman and how many Spidermans do we have besides Liam right?”
Quentin had been growing out his hair, both on his head and some facial hair to be Jules Winfeild. He had on the black suit, white shirt, thin black tie and of course the right amount of fake brains debris from the incident. Addy had a bit more, as was the plan. Of course by debris they meant strawberry jam…..but everyone knew the scene. He was setting up the sound system for various songs as well as a mic for Father O’Keefe. This was going to be a hell of a day for everyone in all the right ways. A little Spiderman ran past him chased by Gomez Addams “Aw man...I’ll have to go as Nick Fury next time! Go Spidey go!”
Kurt was standing not far from the entrance as everyone came in. He did a double take at Father O’Keeffe, almost not recognizing him with his black hair and eyebrows. Mind you he was in disguise as the boy wonder….Robin to Logan’s Batman. They had chosen to wear the old school versions of the pair so Logan even had on the yellow tights. He kept his hair blonde as he wasn’t a fan of colouring it and his costume still made him obvious. He called out to Vincent, Owen and Slaine as they walked in “Hello…..happy wedding day….Hey Spider….oh he’s too fast…” and Liam was off before he could even engage him with John chasing him. He saw a look at his yellow tights from Owen and laughed “You should talk in your short shorts….these are almost like lederhosen.”
Logan grinned at his brother teasing his lover. “Fortunately this is not a fashion show. You definitely don’t have the legs for it, Owen. Face it.” he takes Kurt by the elbow if he can and will lead him to their seats.
Slaine waddled as quickly as she could after her web slinging son. The walk had been more of a workout for her and she just rubbed her very large belly and looked at John. "He wouldn't let me just dress as a bipedal cow." she joked ... mostly. "Moooo." she sighed and jsut headed for her seat to watch.
Addy grinned at her best friend. She'd known this day was coming for a long long time and now that it was here,s he could barely contain her excitement. She stood in her basic Vincent Vega black suit with white shirt and black tie ... and strawberry jam smeared all over it for the blood and guts. Her red hair was temporarily dyed black and tucked into the back of her shirt collar to simulate Vincent Vega's collar length haircut. Moving to the curtained off corner, she looked out and around, then smiled. He's with Father Liam. Ohhhh he looks just like Father Karras the moment he was possessed. That is TOO cool!" then she gasped again. "Oh my god! Fiona! I think Vincent's Uncle Vincent is here .... yes! Black suit, fedora .. it's like 1920's Chicago just walked off of a 2020 yacht!"
Vincent Bittetto didn't hear Addison from where he was, but he walked up to Father O'Keeffe and Vincent. He held his hands up as if wanting to take Vincent by the shoulders and then checked himself. "God help me, I think this is what killed half of Italy." he half quipped. Then he looked Vincent up and down, approvingly. "You look good, son."
Liam chuckled and looked Vincent Bittetto up and down. "Imaginative." he said, his voice dry as Prohibition was supposed to be.
Vincent Reinhardt also checked the hug. New Normal. "Thanks." he smiled. "And thanks so much for coming."
The older Italian smiled. "Wild horses couldn't keep me away. Never mind Covid." he had lived on his boat for the last ten days and had reported his temperature to Dr McKinney every day .. the last being only an hour before getting off of his yacht. "I will sit for the groom's family now." he smiled and headed for his seat, where he looked absolutely regal.
Seamus was dressed as Archie … the one from the comics. As he arrived with his parents and his own daughter, plus Iris as Veronica, he looked around, spotting his father and Liam Spiderman. He chuckled at his father’s costume. “So am I the only one who DIDN’T dye their red hair black?” he quips unable to resist. And then he gets serious. “You have the rings, right, Dad? One for Fiona and one for Vincent carried by the two ringbearers … neither of whom is dressed like a fat hobbit, I might add.”
John pretends to look panicked and pats his pockets madly “Oh shit the rings? That was MY job?” Then he smirks “Yes I have them. And yes you’re the only recognizable Reinhardt in the crew today….aside from Duckie because I can see hers.”
Katie was practicing her duck walk up and down the aisle because she was told she had to take rings to Auntie Fiona and Uncle Vincent. But she could only see Uncle Vincent….and Spiderman who she knew was her cousin Liam and Slaine sitting down with a bunch of other people starting to. There was an old man in a hat. Daddy and Iris were people from comic books. She was confused about Uncle Kurt and Logan until they stood together….Batman and Robin. Katie was confused about Batman wearing a blue suit but he still had the head part that made sense. Then she saw Jayla and Ryan and India arriving as a burger, fries and a shake and squealed as she ran to Jayla, pretending to take a bite out of her.
Jayla giggled “Don’t eat me you silly duck!” Her costume was basically a big comfy looking layered pillow burger over leggings and a long sleeved shirt. She could play in it easily and she did.
Ryan on the other hand had long yellow pillow pieces sticking out the top of his french fry box that he kept pushing out of his face. He awkwardly smiled and greeted people and then said to India “Why did I agree to be the fries again?” As he found himself a seat and arranged himself so he could see and not poke anyone beside him.
Sakura had walked in with Ryan, India and Jayla and her costume consisted of a witch hat with a purple flower on it and a little pin of a bat with eyes that lit up red. Other than that she was in a grey dress she wore often and a pair of little flat shoes and stockings. She was amused by the family meal costume and fawned over Katie a bit “Oh my goodness...the little duck for Ducky. That’s so precious.”
Iris was in earshot of Sakura, Ryan and India and laughed “She’s never going to take it off now. You all look great.” Iris had contact lenses in today so she could be a more convincing Veronica and she had even cut her hair so she had bangs. She wore a retro red blouse and black pencil skirt with a big belt and a simple pair of black pumps. She even played the part a little and swooned at Seamus now and then which made her laugh every time she did it. “Archie...you’re such a darling…”
Fiona beams at Addy that Vincent is there and that Father O’Keeffe looks perfectly his part and costume and then gives a little clap “Vincent Bittetto as a mobster? Oh perfection!”
Liam walked up the aisle motioning to either side. "Sit anywhere ladies and gentlemen." he called. "We are all friends of bride and groom here." he paused and smiled at Darcy Lynch, who was dressed as the lovely Jadzia Dax. "Except for you, mother of the groom." he motioned to the front row where Vincent Bittetto sat. Then he looked at the children, then at John. "So John." he deadpanned. "A hamburger, a duck and Spiderman walk into a wedding ..." he stopped there and shook his head. "NO .. no ... no alcohol in my system yet, so the joke isn't landing ...." he smiled and winked, looking at the children and hoping that his casual demeanor and overall kindness would not frighten them.
India Tor was as resplendent as it was possible for a chocolate milkshake to look. She bemusedly watched Ryan sit and leaned in to kiss him, or try to. "Because a banana shake would be racist." she quipped before laughing and heading for the front and Quentin. "Imma chocolate shake bout to sing an Italian Opera so an Irish priest can perform a wedding." she snorts. Then she sings a few bars, as if warming up.
Kagiso Jackson was dressed up like Sam Cooke, keeping to his theme of soul music. He chuckled at India while he hit a few keys on his electronic keyboard. The sound came out like harp music, as Vincent had been forbidden to play the harp at his own wedding.
Ulick Fitzpatrick walked to his seat with as much dignity as he could manage. He was dressed as a leprechaun ... a wee creature from Irish folklore ... that did not quite fit his massive frame.
Kaitlin Reinhardt moved to her seat dressed as Aunt May of Spiderman fame. She wore a dress similar to the Marissa Tomai Aunt May, but her hair remained grey and up in an old fashioned old lady Aunt May bun. She smiled brightly at Katie and Liam and even Jayla. "I think they're all perfectly precious ... my this was a wonderful idea for a wedding."
Tony dressed like a Michael Jackson at that age and was ready for his part in the wedding. His date was LaTonya, but they were arriving separately. He secretly hoped that she would dress like LaToya Jackson, but as they were sort of dating now … that was a little creepy.
Jude Murphy arrived, as promised, in his full military dress uniform. It was resplendent with medals and his long wild hair was slicked back and, like Addison O’Brian, buttoned into his shirt to give the illusion that it was shorter than it was. Silently, he took a seat about mid way and watched everyone with a deadpan expression.
LaTonya arrived at the party in a sequined dress with her hair out long and naturally puffed out. She had considered her costume … how it could match with Tony’s young Michael Jackson. Given her name, LaToya Jackson was almost the natural choice, but she and Tony were dating now and .. that was just gross. She had been hit by an even better idea … one of Michael Jackson’s first loves … Diana Ross. She took her seat and tried to look as dignified as Diana.
Yuki was sitting beside Kaitlin but his costume was a bit obscure for his stature. He knew the movie Kaitlin was Aunt May from, well her form so going with the Marissa Tomei Aunt May idea he had a curly brown wig on and a muscle suit under a black suit with a wide black tie. He was Happy Hogan. The people who got their paired costume right off the bat were of course Tristan and Rene who were highly amused by the mash up. He kept tossing out a reference for those who wondered if he was another mobster like Vincent Bittetto “No I work for Mr. Stark and I’m hoping I’m more than a summer fling for May.” He joked. “Is that Jude? Wow look at him.”
Sakura looked at Yuki like he was speaking gibberish “Mr. Who now? Shhh….it’s starting”
Tristan face palmed at his grandmother and laughed “We get it Yuki.” The seating arrangements were pretty casual so as soon as Tristan spotted Tony and then LaTonya he tugged Rene by the hand so they could go sit with friends their age. They were Captain America and the Winter Soldier with a great pair of costumes. Tristan had been growing out his hair a bit and had brushed it down. It wasn’t quite as long as Bucky from the film but long enough to suit the costume at least. He gave a nod to LaTonya and smiled and then teased Tony “Moonwalk later or the whole Thriller routine?” Then he paid attention as Father O’Keefe was beginning to talk and he laughed at the Spiderman, duck and hamburger joke.
John cracked up at Father O’Keefe’s joke and grinned at the children he was referring to “Are we ready to go? Should I go get Wednesday ready to walk?” It was pretty casual so the timing wasn’t super scripted. He had heard India’s jokes and her warm up and then cracked a joke back at her “It doesn’t start until the chocolate milkshake sings?”
Stephanie and Micheal sat looking fierce and a little fleshy as Hercules and Xena. They left their costume swords off for the ceremony but Steph had been jokingly promising a warrior worthy raid at the reception. But now she laughed along with the jokes and gave continual mocking looks to both her brother in his French Fry costume and Owen in his super unflattering shorts. She respectfully didn’t tease India as a milkshake. India could pull off her own ridiculousness with more style of course.
Sneaking into 2 seats at the back were Ziggy and angel dressed at Waldo and Wanda. Angel smiled in greeting at a few people but it looked like they might be just on time.
Darcy had laughed at the Spiderman, a duck and a hamburger joke and then beamed at being called the mother of the groom. She was so happy for Vinent and Fiona. She leaned into Vincent Bitteto and said “Great costume.” And then gave Vincent a look of love and a wink as they all waited. She had done her own Trill spots for her Jadzia Dax costume because she didn’t trust the young makeup artists to be Star Trek fans enough to know the deal.
Fiona was with Addy and her mother in the anteroom still but looking at her phone for the time and sort of pacing “Ok I’m ready to be married already..” She joked. She was waiting on either her father or India’s opera as indication. There had been an obvious warm up but then just the chatter of the room after. She quickly sent a text off “Just gotta make sure my backup vocals are still upstairs in the makeup room for my musical vows.” Both her Mom and Addy knew it was Daphne McLeod hiding up there but had been sworn to secrecy because Daphne had begged not to actually sing in front of people.
Rene smiled at Kaitlin. "Excellente!" and then sat with Tristan. He felt a little odd, being at this wedding, and yet perfectly natural.
Father O'keefe began to look around, giving a mental body count. "Yes ... I think it's time." he looks at Vincent fondly. "If you would stand here, young groom..." he moves to the microphone and motions to Vincent's spot, then motions to Kagiso and India to begin.
Colleen moved to John’s side for a moment, squeezing his arm. She had dressed as the corresponding Morticia, but had been with Fiona as she waited. Unlike most of the redheads going for black hair, she had opted for a long black wig and of course tight black dress. She was actually very happy that she still had the figure to pull off the dress … no pun intended, of course. Finding her seat at the front, she watched for her daughter. The first of her children to marry and, perhaps someday, give her more grandchiildren.
Ziggy sits with her Angel and looked around. This was some gathering, for sure. She was excited to watch her friend marry and held Angel's hand. It was Fiona who initially nudged her in Angel's direction.
Kagiso begins to play The Marriage of Figaro and India began to sing it. Somehow it felt a little more appropriate to this very non traditional wedding. It was also a nod to Giovanni Bittetto, who could not be here on this day.
Addy nodded and grinned. "I'll see you up there." she headed out, being Fiona's 'matron of honor'. Owen, of course, was the 'best man'.
Vincent smiled seeing Darcy, his mother figure and Vincent Bittetto, who he'd always anted to be his father, sitting nearby. took his place. Both of their costumes fit them perfectly. Finally, he looked towards the door of the Storehouse where Fiona would come. He could not help but smile. It was happening.
Waiting by the door was Jayla. She held a basket filled with white rose petals that had been dyed black. When Fiona appeared, she did as she was taught, tossing the black petals far out in front of her, so they didn’t just all land on her bread.
Iris had directed Katie to walk behind Jayla and then snuck out of the way. She followed Jayla and her black petal trail with a Cousin It esque black derby hat held upside down. Inside it were the rings of course. She walked at the pace they practiced with Jayla and then stood in her spot until it was time to pass the hat to the right grown up.
Fiona took her father’s arm and walked up the aisle behind the hamburger and the duck doing their tasks perfectly. She giggled down at them and then her eyes locked on Vincent’s and suddenly there was no one else, even though they were surrounded by everyone they loved. She was already teary eyed by the time she felt her father let go of her and she moved to clasp Vincent’s hands. It was today...it was now. They were getting married. Their beautiful twisted fairytale come true. He looked perfect to her like he had since the day they met.
John stepped to the side and ruffled Katie’s hair as he stood and waited for the words that would truly join his daughter with Vincent. He sniffed a bit and watched them and Father O’Keeffe.
Father Liam watched Fiona walk down the aisle with a smile. He waited until they were both standing in front of him and holding hands before he began. "Dearly beloved, you have come together onto this pier so that in the presence of myself," he placed his hand over his heart, sort of winging the traditional, as that was not really what this couple wanted. "The Church’s Holy Messenger and the community your intention to enter into Marriage may be strengthened by the Lord with a sacred seal." he paused, and then added. "Your love be enriched with his blessing you, so that you may have strength to be faithful to each other forever and assume all the responsibilities of married life. And so, in the presence of the Church, I ask you to state your intentions." He had been asked to keep it short and simple and he did ... as best he could with a Catholic wedding. He looks pointedly at them both and begins the questions before the consent. "Vincent and Fiona, have you come here to enter into Marriage without coercion, freely and wholeheartedly?"
Vincent looks at Fiona with complete confidence and replies “I have.”
Fiona will answer in enthusiastic unison with Vincent “I have.”
Father O'Keeffe smiles at them both and continues. "Are you prepared, as you follow the path of Marriage, tolove and honor each other for as long as you both shall live?"
Vincent stares into Fiona’s eyes. “I am.”
Fiona looks right into Vincent’s eyes with deep abiding love and says emotionally “I am.”
Again, Father O'Keeffe smiles between them and moves onto the consent portion of the ceremony. "Since it is your intention to enter the covenant of Holy Matrimony, join your right hands, and declare your consent before God and these witnesses."
Vincent lets go of Fiona’s left hand and continues to look at her with all of his love on their day.
Fiona had already been holding both of Vincent’s hands but she rearranges her hand so she’s just holding his right.
Father O'Keeffe then turns to the groom. "Vincent, do you take Fiona for your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?
Vincent stares into Fiona's eyes. "I do." it was short, sweet and absolutely true.
Father O'Keeffe then turns to Fiona and, as they had practiced, asked. "Fiona, do you take Vincent for your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?
Fiona replies “I do..” And then she swallows from being so emotional. This was beyond beautiful.
Father O'Keeffe smines and nods at them both, and then looks towards the guests. "I have known Vincent all of his life and know him to be a man of few words." he tells tham. "But Fiona has asked to offer her own vows to Vincent in front of you, their friends and family."
Fiona straightened up and grabbed the mic from where Quentin had left it ready for her. Smiling at Vincent she waits until Quentin slips to his spot and taps a button for the background music to kick and and begins to sing to Vincent to the well known song that is Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time. Her voice is clear and melodic and when she gets to the chorus she even has a backup singer who’s perfect harmonizing chimes in from some mysterious place through the speaker. Over and over between the verses their voices serenade her beloved “If you’re lost you can look and you will find me, time after time….If you fall I will catch you...I will be waiting...time after time…...time after time...time after time….” Fiona smiles at Vincent after the music fades and says “Time after time, until death do us part Minstrel.”
Vincent stands and listens. He is able, in the beginning to blink away the tears, but at the end, fails and one drops onto his cheek. When she speaks, he can only nod. Speaking would probably mean bawling.
Father Liam smiles after the lovely song and then looks at them both. "May the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, the God who joined together our first parents in paradise, strength and bless in Christ the consent you have declared before the Church, so that what God joins together, no one may put asunder." He then looks between Katie and the smaller Liam and nods. "Bless and sanctify your servants in their love, O Lord, and let these rings, a sign of their faithfulness, remind them of their love for one another."
Owen gives little Liam a little head jut at the hat and he blinks and then picks the smaller ring out and walks over to Vincent with it. Once the ring is in Vincent’s hand he of course has to pretend to shoot a web at him as he walks back to place “Fwip fwip..” he whispers and there are snickers from the gathering of family and friends.
Vincent takes the ring with a smile and straightens to place it on Fiona's finger. "Fiona, receive this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity."
Katie feels a little tap on her shoulder from John but she knows her cue and duck walks over to Fiona with Vincent’s ring and hands it to her with a big grin. Several awws escape the crowd as she duck walks back to her grandfather.
Fiona can’t help but giggle as she takes the ring “Thank you Ducky..” She whispers and then she places it on Vincent’s finger. “Vincent, receive this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity.
Father O'Keeffe smiles broadly as the rings are exchanged and once they are he lifts his arms as if to encompass them. "By the power vested in me by God and the province of British Columbia, I now pronounce you man and wife. Those whom God hath joined together, let no one put asunder." he looks at Vincent. and completes the ceremony. "You may now kiss the bride!"
Fiona knows the “tradition” is for the groom to kiss the bride but she’s so excited to be Vincent’s wife that she grabs Vincent by the lapels and initiates the kiss herself, it’s both gentle and passionate and for her it seals the deal with absolute joy.
Vincent is already leaning into Fiona when she grabs him by the lapels and kisses him. It hardly ruins the moment for him and he kisses her, oblivious to their guests at the moment, so lost is he in their first kiss as man and wife.
Liam watches and smiles. Again he lifts his hand. “Family and friends, I give you Mr. and Mrs. Reinhardt …. Um … whichever edition we’re talking about here. There are so MANY of them!”
Little Liam Indi is so excited he jumps up and down and cheers now that he doesn’t have to be still and perfect. “Mommy and Daddy next!” he proclaims.
Owen grins at little Liam’s words and then gives a look at Slaine to suggest he wouldn’t mind the idea at all. They hadn’t really talked about marriage but they might after that comment. “Not today Spidey...this is Fi and Vincent’s gig.” He can see Fiona and Vincent are still distracted by their kiss but as they finally come up fro air he calls out “Wooot!” with his hands cupped around his mouth like he’s at a sporting event.
There’s all kinds of clapping and hooting and hollering from the gathered as Fiona and Vincent….Mr. and Mrs. now turn to face them.
Quentin Tyrell moves to his DJ set up and starts up some music and there’s already food set up at the back and room for people to mingle and dance. He starts it off of course with the theme song to the Addams Family.
While all eyes were on Fiona and Vincent, Daphne had snuck down the stairs and quietly out the door, off to join her pals for some scary movies and candy binging while her singing talents remained for now, anonymous.
Katie and Jayla run free as soon as the music starts and begin to play tag with Liam. They had all been still and quiet for SO long!
Slaine laughs at her son. She would love to marry him ... but she's also like a nice dress she could see her feet in. She claps for the happy couple, and then begins trying to get to her feet. Not as easy as it used to be with a month or so before her due date.
Tony has listened to the song with curiosity. He didn't think that was Fiona's singing voice, which he'd heard a lot while they were singing to keep people's morale up during the fog. But he couldn't place whose voice it WAS. But everyone was at the venue and he didn't see anyone new, so he shrugged it off and headed for his father for when his time for live singing came, which is why he was there. To sing that slow romantic song for people to dance to. He could try and make it up to LaTonya later. He loved her costume.
Seamus smiled happily now that his sister was safely married to Vincent. He moves over to Owen. “Well, at least ONE of us kids got it in the right order.” he teases them both. He looks at Slaine. “You look fantastic.” Then he turns his attention to the dance floor, knowing neither Fiona nor Vincent were great fans of any dancing.
Iris stepped past Seamus to hug Fiona and Vincent “Congratulations you two.” Then she would step back as the chairs behind and beside them started to get moved to the sides and a few folding tables went up so people were seated with more space in the middle.
Owen rolled his eyes at Seamus “Oy! I resemble that. It’s possible after Slaine has now seen the entirety of my pasty legs in fluorescent lighting she’ll be reassessing the value of my genetic material in our triplet mix. I do hope they get her legs.”
Quentin was sort of orchestrating it as he had a plan for getting the couple’s official dance going after what was essentially filler music while they rearranged things. As John joked at him about being too old to move furniture he did his signature line for Jules Winfeild “Say what again?!”
Once the chairs were out of the way Quentin got back on the mic “Could I have Mr. and Mrs. Reinhardt…..the youngest of them…...get their married asses to the middle of this here dance floor so we can all stare at you and my Tony can sing your special dance song?” He grinned afterwards as the crowd made room and complied.
Fiona had hugged Iris back and then laughed at Seamus and Slaine and Owen before hearing Quentin and looking at Vincent “Our married asses…...ok then.”
Slaine giggled at Owen. "I'm still interested ..." she demures. "But lets see the babies legs first, shall we?" then she hears the bride and groom called and laughs.
Vincent hears the call and laughs. "I married more than your ass, didn't I?" he asks before taking in a deep breath and taking her hand. "The faster we get this out ofthe way the better?" he offers.
Tony grinns as the bride and groom come out. "I know you'll be expecting some Michael Jackson." he tells them when he takes the mic. "But I think this is a lot better for you two." and when the music starts, he begins singing The Way You Look Tonight.
And of course ... Everyone watches as the couple begins to dance.
Vincent takes Fiona in his arms, pulls her close and sways back and forth to the music ... which is how they have always danced, to the appreciation of their feet. "We did it." he rests his forehead against hers.
Seamus watches them for a minute literally before he takes Iris’s hand and tugs her towards the dance floor, taking her in his arms and dancing, probably much better than his sister.
Logan pulls Kurt onto the dance floor for their dance. They didn’t get out much, so this was special.
Slaine watches the dance and smiles, r waits till the older folks are on the dance floor before trying to pull Owen onto the dance floor.reaching for Owens hand and tugging. “I don’t know when I’ll have another chance to dance.” she predicts and gets as close to him as she can … which isn't terribly close.
Rene pulls Tristan on the dance floor if he can. He loves any opportunity to dance in general and to dance with Tristan is a treat indeed.
Michael pulled Stehanie onto the dance floor. :And I didn’t have to arrest anyone … whoda thunk.” he snorts as he pases John and Colleen, referring to that infamous first date.
Fiona leans her forehead against the warmth of Vincent’s “We did...I love you.” She sways with him and is eternally grateful he’s not some smooth dancer who ever expects her to be one too. They were perfectly matched. “All those Halloweens ago surrounded by some weird kids….” She laughs “We found each other.”
Iris gets turned and swirled and moved by Seamus and matches his movements with her own. She gives him a mix between impressed and mildly turned on “Mmmm how have we never danced before? You’re good at this.”
Kurt melts into Logan’s arms and Batman and the Boy Wonder get a new narrative as they dance.
Owen wraps his arms around Slaine with one curved around her belly and their babies. “They’ll nap sometimes I imagine...maybe not all at once….and with Liam...yeah we might not dance again until they’re all teenagers…..but hey light at the end of a tunnel right?” He jokes and then lens his head down and kisses her sweetly.
Tristan hugs Rene close and gives him a squeeze around the mid back before grinning at him “I’m very glad you’re here with me.”
John looks sheepish at his brother’s words “I did get over it...and I love the guy now...hell he still became a Reinhardt even.” He looks down at Colleen’s dress “I like you in this….Morticia..” He wiggles his darkened eyebrows at her.
Stephanie snorts “That’s right. John was a bit of an ass….well he still is but likeably so.” She looks at Vincent and Fiona “They made it this far.”
Angel pulled Ziggy onto the dancefloor and as they zoomed past Fiona and Vincent he called out “Congratulations….you’ll never find us in a moment.” Angel was a great dancer and he twirled and spun and dipped Ziggy having lots of fun with it.
Yuki asked Kaitlin to dance in character “Hey uh May…….you know we could join those kids out there and have a dance?” It was partly in character and partly Yuki was just that sweet and shy too. Eventually they were on the dance floor looking their own kind of adorable.
Quentin has to stay close to the sound system but beckons Addy to come dance with him where he is which looks very amusing in their costumes. He gives her a little kiss and then jokingly licks some jam off her collar.
Liam and Katie and Jayla watch all the grown ups dancing and being mushy from perches on the staircase and make faces at them.
Ryan makes faces back at Jayla as he dances with India and they awkwardly try to navigate the shape of their costumes and move together. “Just get between my fries….that sounds bad…” He laughs. “Oh my god why didn’t we just go as skeletons or zombies?”
Vincent sways. "I love you, too." he laughs. "Yea ... I played the harp following you around Forgot to get any candy. Didn't care." he kisses her softly. "I just wanted to be around you. Still do." he looks at her. "Thank you SO much for this. I know you might not care if we ever got married. I feel the same ... yet different more ... I don't know. Secure?"
Seamus grins a bit. "I guess because I'm not a big a social butterfly as people thought I was?" he offers. "But we definitely have to dance more." he looks at her and his life now as opposed to how it was before. How happy he is now.
Rene hugs Trustan back. "This feels like where I belong, amour." he replies, simply.
Slaine grins. "Someday, yes. And we have the army of babysitters that is your family. I love it. And I love you." she kisses him back. "I want your dreams to come true, Owen. You made mine come true."
Colleen grins as John admits his now obvious love of their now son-in-law. She winks up at him. "Well you can help me out of it while the kids nad grandkids trick or treat. If we can play 'not home' without having our house burned down." she looks around at their children all paired off, just beaming at how happy all of their kids are.
Michael replies to Stephanie. "It's an inherited trait. Being an ass. And those two will make it very far." he looks down at his small wife. "Reinhardts fall hard."
Ziggy was carried along with Angel, finding that it wasn't that easy to keep up with his dance moves, but she managed, laughing in joy and beaming at her friends.
Kaitlin adored the chance to dance, especially given how shy Yuki was.
Tony finished his song, bowed and walked over to LaTonya. “We can dance when my Dad plays more music … if you want to.” he offers, almost shyly. He is taking things very slowly this time. No showing off or kissing on the dance floor for him.
Addy happily moved close to Quentin and nuzzles into his neck, taking her fair share of jam. Sadly the song comes to an end, but she stays near him as he continues to play music.
India laughs at Ryan. "That did sound bad ... you're turning into a dirty old man. I love it." she cackles. Finally Tony finishes his song and she moves towards the children. They would be getting bored soon, if they weren't already and she hopes the cake will be cut and served soon, giving them the first bit of sugar before trick or treating.
LaTonya smiles as Tony offers to dance with her. “I’d love to.” she replies and comes out on the dance floor for another song. Tony was always such a gentleman. And a really nice guy. It felt to her like they got closer with every date, and she looked forward to being seen with him. Who wouldn’t?
Darcy had danced with Kagiso and then Vincent Bitteto. She was a good sport and made lively conversation with both or at least encouraged them to. But then she was done with dancing and by the food table as she ran into Father O’Keeffe. She grabbed a plate and began to load up on savoury Halloween themed snacks and some fresh cut fruits and veggies, gesturing at the food “This is so perfect for them…” There were mummies in a blanket, little pretzel witches brooms with cheese string straw tied with a chive, creepy eyeball deviled eggs, spinach dip in a bread cauldron and a layered taco dip set up like a graveyard with tortilla headstones. The veggie platter was arranged like a skeleton and trh fruit platter was arranged like a decorated pumpkin face. The graveyard dip and spinach dip platters both had little signs stuck into them that said Egg Free/Vegan and were at the opposite end of the buffet from the deviled eggs.. Darcy dug herself a grave’s worth of taco dip and then ate a strawberry and then glanced out at the people still dancing.
There was a separate round table set up with a misty grey tiered cake where it looked like a road winding around a silhouette of black plastic dead trees, bats and cats up to a decor model of a haunted house that looked very similar in style to the Addams family house. It was well known that the cake was a red velvet special from Earthcakes and Zilpha was both brilliantly creative and allergy aware. Any cake ordered for a Reinhardt event was of course egg free.
Ryan had snorted when India said he was turning into a dirty old man and then after a few songs saw people eating and took her hand and kissed it “Let’s scavenge some lunch before we have to walk the town with our little burger. Do you think she qualifies as a slider?” He joked as they got closer to the food table and Darcy talking with Father O’Keefe “Wow this looks great, who did all this?”
Darcy called back to Ryan “Shelly Newcastle and her daughter Taylor have a little home catering business they just started. Don’t mention it to Rich….they’re not exactly amicable.”
Ryan quipped back “So like Rich and most people...not just his divorced wife. Check.”
Father O'Keeffe enjoyed watching the dance after overseeing the clean up out on the docs. He went back inside to see the spread of food and grinned at Darcy's words. He took a couple of deviled eggs and nodded. "It really is perfect for them." He agreed. "It's good to see Vincent happy again." he overheard Darcy and Ryan discussing Shelly Newcastle. "I didn't know she had started a new business. I'll have to talk to her about catering events at the Community Center." he hosted quite a few involving mourning and spirituality.
Ziggy managed to get Angel to stop dancing and head for the food. Laughing and panting slightly, her complaint was light hearted. "I can't keep up with you on two feet, apparently. Not for long. You'll burn all the curves off if Fiona starts a marriage trend." She took some of the food and beamed at the cake. "Mrs Z still has that artistic touch."
Rene stopped dancing reluctantly, but headed to the table with Tristan looking at the table and finding the egg free end. His diet was heading more and more in the direction of egg free, as very few days passed when he didn’t see, never mind kiss, Tristan. In his egg loving home, he brushed his teeth immediately after eating, but was slowly guiding his mother and sisters towards egg-free recipes to replace the traditional French egg full ones. His argument was overall health .. and of course that his boyfriend was allergic to eggs.
Tristan beamed as he saw the egg free signs. He knew his extended family got it but it was still touching to see the efforts made to keep him from getting sick “Aww nice.” He sighs at Rene “I feel like I’ve outlawed eggs from your life. I’m sorry.” He laughs and loads up a plate of safe foods. “That is a cool looking cake. So Fiona and Vincent.” He saw Ziggy and Angel nearby “Hi Mr. Negron and Ziggy.” Because it was hard to not call your teachers by their proper titles even outside of school.
Angel had looked sweetly and then anxiously at Ziggy “No I love your curves…..we can’t do that.” He laughs “A trend….well we joined it….no regrets…” Then he hears someone say Hi Mr. Negron and Ziggy and turns “Hello boys. Great costumes. And yes the cake is fantastic.” He took a selection of food and a napkin and nibbled and chatted. There was a punch bowl with a red fruity punch and floating gummy worms which Angel made a face at and chose to avoid but there was also a big water cooler and glasses so he took a cup of that instead.
Darcy turned back to Father O’Keeffe “Well Shelly’s easy enough to track down and I’m sure she’d love more business. And I agree on Vincent being happy….full circle for the pair of them with getting married on Halloween. And I must say Father O’Keeffe your costume is bang on.”
The snack radar kicks in for the children and all of a sudden three little faces peer at all the offerings.
Jayla walks right past her parents and gets a cup and hands it to Rene if she can with a demand and a point at the punch “Juice please?” She then grabs a strawberry off the fruit platter and takes a bite of it and makes a sour face reaching with her hand to put it back on the platter as a reject.
Ryan’s hand shoots out over Jayla’s as if from nowhere “No sweetie...if you take a bite it’s yours….even if it’s sour.”
Spiderman Liam grabs a mummy and a blanket and tries to eat it while also pretending to shoot webs at Father O’Keeffe.
Katie’s little duck head just hovers over the taco dip as she tries to figure out if it’s something she wants to eat.
Iris steers her and Seamus’s dance to the food table as they see Katie over there looking like she might partake. She lets go of Seamus and leans down to Katie “Do you want some of that? We can get a plate Ducky…”
Katie looks suspiciously at it “What is it?”
Darcy looks down at the little duck “It’s good Katie...beans, guacamole, some cheese, sour cream I think or yogurt, taco sauce….”
Quentin gets on the mic between songs “Hey beautiful people. I’m sure you all noticed the food. We’re gonna have just a few more songs before the happy couple cuts that big creepy cake of theirs so save room for cake if you’re snacking already.” Quentin had changed up the music to some faster songs, Halloween themed. He played the Monster Mash, and then with a wink at Tony he put on Thriller and turned sideways and did the moonwalk as an almost challenge for Tony to do it back.
Fiona was happy to drift from dancing as the music switched to faster songs but watched to see if Tony would take up the challenge as she looked between Addy, Quentin and Vincent “Think he knows the whole dance?” She pondered. Her parents had of course shown them old music videos so she was familiar.
Father O'Keeffe smiled at Darcy about the compliment to his costume. "Thank you. It's always fun to switch things up a bit." He moves to put a deviled egg in his mouth just as Liam shoots webs at him. He stops his hand and pretends he can't get the food to his mouth again. "Curses! Foiled again!" he proclaims.
Rene shakes his head at Tristan. "Do not be sorry. My family is enjoying the change, I think. And it is better for them. Giving up meat would be harder for them, I think." he laughs and then sees Jayla, taking the cup from her and pouring her juice as she tries, rejects and attempts to return the strawberry. He hears the announcement and looks towards Tony.
Tony has eaten a couple of the snacks and then catches his father's challenge. He leans over to LaTonya. "Excuse me a minute ...." and he walks onto the dance floor, squarely facing his father. His dad would never give him a challenge too big for him and now he began to moonwalk, but then fell into the dances from the infamous video.
Vincent watches with Fiona, Quentin and Addy. Tony begins to dance and he laughs. "I think that answers that now, doesn't it."
LaTonya watches Tony dance with a sigh of admiration. He didn't have a shy bone in his body and she loved that. They both had confidence in themselves and she believed that made them a stronger couple.
Quentin laughs and claps. “My boy!” He calls out with a hand on his heart. He dances along at the DJ station but then something interesting happens. A reveal of sorts among some of the adults who were children of the 1980s.
Stephanie Reinhardt had been a huge Micheal Jackson fan as a kid. She knew Thriller and she’d done the dances many years ago. With a big grin on her face she stepped in just back from Tony and followed along with his dance. It had been years so she fumbled a few cues but had fun and reveled in the fact that Tony knew it all.
On the other side of and just back from Tony and to everyone’s surprise John stepped in. He wasn’t as smooth as even steph but he also knew some of it and winked at Vincent and Fiona as he did his best to keep up.
Fiona scrambled madly for her phone “Oh my GOD!!! Tony I figured….but Steph...and DAD!!” She started filming them.
Ryan’s jaw drops and then he just cheers the dancers on as he keeps an eye out for Jayla and any further rejected fruit. But she and the other kids soon realize there’s attention to be had on the dance floor so they join in. They don’t know the dance at all but they make up their own and have a ton of fun doing it.
Being free from the web of the Liam Spiderman, Father O'Keeffe watched the dance a bit as he chewed, but then joined in, surprisingly dancing as well as young Tony Penhall.
India watched Tony and her Jayla dancing and whooped, joining in on the dance as well.
Vincent grinned and watched Fiona filming. When Father O'Keeffe joined in he cheered. He wouldn't get on that dance floor for any amount of money, but loved watching it.
Rene did not know the dance, but he was willing to try and had little shame. He was a half a step behind Tony, learning on the fly.
Fiona just about tipped over as Father O’Keeffe joined in and she hooted and hollered and then cheered for India, who she wasn’t shocked could dance. She gave Rene a cheer and then looked over at Tristan who was clapping and laughing. This was by far the best wedding present, all these people doing the dance to Thriller. So much fun and she filmed it all.
Ryan doesn’t dare join India but he cheers her on and had gasped a bit at Father O’Keeffe before her.
Darcy looks both impressed and amused. She wasn’t much of a dancer either but this was amazing and hilarious.
As the song finishes Quentin gets on the mic again “Oh my god you guys are the BEST! Happy Halloween everyone. Let’s cut that cake.”
Fiona stops filming and walks out towards the dancers “Thank you...seriously thank you!” She pauses before dealing with cake to hug each and every dancer, starting with Tony “You all just made this day a thousand times more interesting and wonderful.”
While Fiona is hugging everyone Quentin laughs into the mic “Cake in a few but while we’re waiting…..I have a question for Miss Addison O’Brian.” Addy is still beside him and he looks at her with a twinkle in his eyes and then unexpectedly drops down on one knee “All this marrying stuff is going to my head…..ah who am I kidding it was already in my head. And I’m not trying to steal anyone’s thunder but Addy…..will you marry me? I don’t even have a ring…” He laughs and sheepishly admits.
Fiona turns mid hug she’s in and gasps with delight at the proposal.
John had hugged his daughter and then half walked and half hobbled towards Colleen “Getting too old for…” Then his mouth formed an O as he watched Quentin and Addy waiting to see what would happen.
Addison had been watching the dance and hugged Fiona happily. When Quentin got on the mic and said he had a question for her, she knew what it was. But when he got down on one knee, she couldn't help but sniff and blink. "Quentin Tyrell." She looks at him eyes shining and smile wide. "I don't need a ring. All I need is you. Yes! I'll marry you." she sniffs again and pulls him up and into s hug and deep kiss.
Tony watches the proposal with a grin and when Addy accepts, he jumps up and down. "About TIME!!" he hollers and claps loudly.
Father O'Keeffe stood and watched this couple get engaged and smiled broadly. Weddings did have a way of inciting romance.
Quentin gets pulled up and drops the mic as he kisses Addy back just as deeply, dipping her a bit and then breaking away breathlessly finally and just grinning from ear to ear. He heard Tony and chuckled into the kiss about his approval. Now he was almost speechless “OK...no ring….just me...just us...and the boy a proper family….” There was some clapping from around them and a few hoots.
Fiona was so full of emotion for her and Vincent’s day that she now couldn’t help but have a little happy cry for her best friend “Fuck...you guys…..ah…” She laughs “OK cake…..before everyone else ends up married off. You all heard about Ziggy and Angel too right?” She points and teases “Watch out singles...it’s coming for you. Vincent...I need your chefly wisdom here...how do we even begin to cut this thing?” She was handed the knife and a stack of paper plates but now was trying to come up with a strategy for cutting “Top down?” She gestured. “Cake jenga?”
Angel put an arm around Ziggy watching the other proposal and acceptance and then laughed as Fiona mentioned their engagement “It’s true. It’s contagious.” He said to whoever was near before kissing Ziggy’s cheek.
Tristan gave Rene an affectionate nudge as he came back from dancing and the proposal of Tony’s dad and Addy unfolded. He cheered and clapped along and then laughed at the contagious jokes. He could imagine his whole life with Rene, but they were young and had lots to enjoy. “Don’t play cake jenga. It’s too beautiful to die.”
John was one of the louder cheering people for Quentin and Addy, Quentin being one of his best buddies and Addy having been one of Fiona’s all the years. It was a generational span but Quentin was younger than him so it wasn't scandalous. And Tony was happy so that was important. “I don’t care how you cut it Fi….but tell us it’s red velvet?”
Vincent cheered at the engagement and nodded, as he'd heard about Ziggy and Angel. He grinned about the contagion and looked at John as if he might have finally snapped. "Of course it's red velvet. Honestly, Dad." he chided and teased. Then he took Fiona's hand, the one that was holding the knife. "Bottom up could be more challenging, but ... I think top down is the best." and still guiding her hand, cut the first slice and pulled it from the main part of the cake.
Fiona giggled and cut the cake with Vincent as many cameras snapped at their morment. Then they broke tradition a bit and started handing out plates of cake because three eager little children suddenly appeared before them with big eyes. Little Liam even took off his spiderman mask all the way. “Spidey! Your secret identity!” Fiona teased as she handed him his piece. “Two hands…..take it to a table..” She instructed Katie and Jayla. “Ok give us a sec here…..” She and Vincent tag teamed and got a bunch cut and plated and put them out on a cleared end of the food table “Thank you all for coming. I know some folks are eager to get home for trick or treating so after cake we’re just going to wrap up. We love you all and thank you for sharing our day with us.” She looked at Vincent after “I hope I covered it. Thank you….for sharing your life with me.” She said as her last. Fiona and Vincent Reinhardt were completely and properly married.
